Introduction
In the Age of Information Technology or Knowledge Economy, there is greater demand for higher level literacy beyond basic and functional literacy. However, in spite of the technological advances these days, one should not forget that education must always be truth—conscious. It is not interested only in what is current and in what is correct. It calls for commitment to truth and consistency in the daily practice of life. This is a progressive process, a growing experience to the reality of life. Hence, each person must face the practical realities of life—the opportunities and responsibilities, the defeats and successes. How the person meets these experiences depends largely upon the preparation to cope with them--HIS EDUCATION.
It is in this concept that the Division of Misamis Oriental aims to constantly provide quality basic education and constantly lay the foundation for holistic lifelong learning and creative and rational thinking. Further, this division aims to develop Filipinos who are functionally literate, socially and morally responsible, nationalistic yet receptive and contributory to positive global influences—these Filipinos become productive members of the society; Filipinos who have the power to think and to do, men who bear responsibilities, who are leaders in the enterprise and who influence character.
